Biography: Chantale Mason AKA Chi Gunna was the second born of five in East Chicago Heights, IL. Since day one she was born into a musically family. Her mothers father (Melvin “Butch” Mason) was the lead singer and song writer of a group called, “The Marvalows” in the late 60’s. Producing hit songs like, “Do I Love You,” and “When The Morning Comes” was soon after sold out by there road manager. It wasn’t until she turned 16 years old when she decided to test her talent by freestyling for friends and family. While at a bus stop on Candler Road in Decatur, she was listening to an instrument mailed from Chicago by her brother, just freestyling away and in a zone, not realizing that the people at the stop light and at the bus stop was feeling her,two guys by the name of Will & Wayne pulled over and handed her a card to there studio in East Wick. She went to record and met a few people, was offered contracts, and was offered featured spots but business was shady and nothing came of that. At that point Chi Gunna had got discouraged and decided to focus on getting “bread,” and the music was on the back burner. After graduating high school she headed to Minnesota and got into a bit of trouble. Once again, she ran back to the music. Through a mutual friend she was introduced to a local producer and owner of “Unstable Intellect” by the name of Monroe “Grip” Dunbar. She was in the studio and performing shows through out the twin cities and loving it !! After about a year or so things fell apart due to incarcaration and a weak team. Still fighting for a passion and position she joined a team of monsters from St.Paul, Mn called, “Get Money Family” and that too fell apart after a year due too jealousy and lack of motivation on group members behalf. After that Chi Gunna decided to head to college to get her degree at Minneapolis Business College for Medical Assistant and graduated in June 2008. Now she’s back…........as a free agent and ready to hit the booth for the last time….......SOLO !!!!!!
